Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. She was moved to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five where she attended the Dragon School. Emma's dream was to become an actor. As a young girl of 6she was enrolled into the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch, where she took classes for acting, singing and dancing. At the age of 10, she had already taken part in many Stagecoach productions and plays. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by agents through the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. After eight consecutive auditions, producer David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were cast as the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. It also was one of the top-rated films in 2001. The opening days and weekends of ticket sales were record-breaking. The film was praised by reviewers, and so were the performances of its three new actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her performance.
